February 1-5

Welcome Parents!
This week is an exciting week as it is Catholic Schools Week which happens to coincide with our 100th day of school on Friday!

The schedule of the week is as follows:

Sunday
Please attend Mass at St. Jerome to thank God for all the blessings that He has given you!

Monday
Community Appreciation: The entire school is having a canned food drive. Please bring a can to help those in need. Proceeds of the drive will go to Mother of Sorrows School.

Tuesday
Student Appreciation Day: Students can wear non-uniform attire and show our Spartan pride in the SJS colors of red and black! Students will also receive extended recess.

Wednesday

Buddy Day: We will be pairing up with the 6th grade for a fun activity! We also have a school mass at 11:15. We will not be having P.E., so make sure to wear your regular uniform.

Parents, you are invited to St. Jerome School for Open House Wednesday Feb. 3, 2010 between 6:30-7:30pm. Come and enjoy looking around 2nd grade and explore other classrooms to see what is in store for your child in the coming years. Please bring friends who may be interested in enrolling their children at St. Jerome. Tours will be given for prospective parents. Also, students who attend Open House wearing their uniform will be allowed to have a non-uniform dress day the next day (Thursday). Make sure to check in with either Mrs. Callanen or Ms. Berlin!

Thursday

Teacher Appreciation Day

Friday

100th Day of School: Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades will be celebrating our 100th day of school on Friday. Students are invited to come to school dressed as a 100 year old person or wear something that represents 100. If your child does not want to participate, they MUST wear their school uniform. See flier for more details! Students will participate in morning activities centered around the number 100 and there will be a surprise visitor!

Teacher Switch: Mrs. Callanen will teach 5th grade for one period and Ms. Carter will teach 2nd grade!

Saturday

Second Grade News January 4th - 8th

Hello Second Grade Families,

Welcome to 2010! We hope you all had a relaxing and peaceful Christmas vacation. We are happy to be back at work and eager to teach your children again! We are looking forward to a successful and happy second trimester together. Hope you are too!

Please note:
Mrs. Sederstrom will NOT be returning to the 2nd grade classroom. We are currently searching for her replacement. Ms. Solari will be filling in for her this week and we are hopeful that we will have our new teacher up and running next week. I will continue to work my normal schedule of Monday, Tuesday, and every other Friday. Please call or send an e-mail if you have any questions or concerns. I will happy to help you!

Reminders:
Please remember that students are responsible for copying down their spelling words into their Student Agenda each week. The page this week is p. 61. Words are posted on the blog on Mondays and tests are always on Fridays.
